  • The Air gives you more screen in a lighter, much thinner body. It pairs a 6.5-inch display with a 165g, 5.64mm chassis, while iPhone 17 uses a 6.3-inch display and weighs 177g at 7.95mm. Both support 120Hz ProMotion and a 3,000-nit outdoor peak, so the practical choice is screen area and feel rather than refresh rate.
  • The camera tradeoff is immediate. iPhone 17 combines a 48MP main camera with a 48MP ultrawide that also enables macro photography. iPhone Air has one 48MP rear camera with a 2x crop option, but no ultrawide or macro path. Buyers who regularly shoot interiors, groups, landscapes, or close details should favor iPhone 17.
