Panasonic's official materials tie the L10 to a 20.4MP 4/3-type BSI sensor platform used in the GH7 family, while Fujifilm gives the X100VI a 40.2MP APS-C sensor and 6-stop in-body stabilization. That split changes the buying decision: the L10 buys zoom range, 5.6K/60, C4K/120 and V-Log; the X100VI buys more still-photo resolution, a larger sensor and its optical/electronic hybrid finder.
Key differences
- The L10's 24-75mm equivalent F1.7-2.8 zoom makes it much more flexible for travel video, close-ups and mixed focal lengths than the X100VI's fixed 23mm F2 lens.
- For video, the L10's official spec sheet lists 5.6K up to 59.94p, C4K/4K up to 119.88p, Full HD high-speed recording up to 239.76p and V-Log with 13+ claimed stops at lower frame rates.
- For stills, the X100VI has the cleaner spec-sheet advantage: a 40.2MP APS-C sensor, a mechanical shutter up to 6fps, an electronic shutter option and Fujifilm's hybrid finder experience.
Who it is for
- Choose the Lumix L10 if you want a compact camera for video, family travel, close detail shots and changing focal lengths without carrying lenses.
- Choose the X100VI if your main goal is still photography, street shooting, a 35mm-equivalent viewpoint and Fujifilm's viewfinder and color style.
- Choose the L10 if a compact body with serious video headroom is the point. It is not a dedicated cinema body, but its video ceiling is unusually high for this kind of camera.
Watch-outs
- The L10's stronger video toolkit does not erase the sensor-size trade-off. The X100VI remains the larger-sensor, higher-resolution stills camera.
- The X100VI's fixed lens is a feature if you want that discipline, but it is a real limitation if you expect portraits, tighter framing or product shots without digital cropping.
- Do not treat the L10's 5.6K and C4K modes as proof that it replaces a professional video system. Heat, handling, audio rigging and lens control still matter before production work.
